Brotherhood & Thinking Day

Brotherhood and Thinking Day special assembly was conducted on 22nd February, 2017 by the Scouts and Guides of Indian School Ibra.  The assembly started with the Scouts and Guides prayer song.  It was followed by thought for the day and news highlights.  The special highlights of the day were:

  • a speech depicting the importance of the Day by Anna Sabu (VIII)
  • an eye opener skit for the youngsters who fail to look after their aged parents as they grow by the Guides
  • a song presented by the Guides which had a profound meaning with the message of being united with one and all.

The Principal Mr. Regi Oommen gave a short message on the importance of the movement and the role of the Scouts and Guides in the society.  He insisted to arrange for an outreach programme for the Scouts and Guides in the next academic session.   He also felicitated the outgoing Scouts and Guides of Class VIII with Certificate of Appreciation.

The assembly ended with the patriotic song.

26th Annual Day

 

The 26th Annual Day of Indian School Ibra was celebrated on January 21, 2017 with enthusiasm and great jubilation at the Ministry of Education Auditorium, Ibra.  The Chief Guest of the function was His Excellency Shri. Indra Mani Pandey, the Ambassador of India to Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Yahia Bin Mohammad Al Busadi, Director (HRD), Ministry of Education, Al-Sharqiya Region Ibra was the Guest of Honour.  The special invitees from Board of Director of Indian Schools in Sultanate of Oman were Commander Mathew Abraham, Education Advisor, BoD and Dr. Alex C. Joseph. Asst. Education Advisor, BoD.  Several other special invitees including School Management Committee Members graced the function.  The Principal Mr. Regi Oommen, delivered the welcome address and the Presidential address was presented by Mr. Robin Rohit Vincent – President School Management Committee.  The Annual report of the Academic Session 2016 – 17 was presented by the Supervisors viz Mr. Sanjay Sukumaran, Mr. Moses Justus and Mrs. Snehal R. Gupte.  His Excellency in his address appreciated and congratulated the teachers, students and parents for the commendable achievements as well as the smooth functioning of the school and stressed on inculcating Indian culture and values.  In his address H.E. requested the students to learn more Indian languages apart from those in the curriculum, to have a better understanding of Indian Culture and Values. He further suggested learning more about Oman culture too!  The Guest Honour emphasized on having more interaction between Omani Schools and Indian Schools during various activities such as assemblies, festivals and various competitions.  He also stated that he was very happy to be invited as the Guest for the Annual day.

The Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Education Advisor and Asst. Education Advisor gave away the certificates and awards to the meritorious students. Master Nirmal Mathew of Std VII received the Nilina Beth Jacob Award for the most outstanding student of the school during the Academic Year 2016 – 2017.  Three students – Amal Mathew, Jelin Raphael and Joseph Benny of Class X: 2015-16 batch, were also awarded with Certificates of Merits and Prizes for achieving Grade A1 in all the five subjects in CBSE Board Exam 2015 – 2016.  Teachers & Staff felicitated for their 100% attendance in the academic year 2015 – 16 are as follows Mr. Deepak Kumar Singh, Mr. Moses Justus, Mr. V Shafeeq, Ms Somita Vora, Non-teaching Staff Mr. A Raja.  Mr. Justus Moses, Supervisor, the Mathematics teachers was felicitated as the students scored the highest Grade A1 in the CBSE Board Exam 2015 – 2016 in their subject.  A total number of 42 prizes were given on the Annual Day.

The overall House Championship Prize for Best Performance in Co-Scholastic Activities was awarded to Green House by Dr. Alex C. Joseph -. Education Advisor, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Sultanate of Oman. The House Councilor’s and Students House Captain received the Championship shield.  The Chief Guest H.E. Shri. Indra Mani Pandey, released the 15th edition of the yearly school newsletter “Stallion”.

The children from classes KG I to X showcased their talents by presenting a heart throbbing cultural Programme with the theme ‘Around the World’. The long-awaited cultural Programme enthralled everyone. Indeed, the excitement of the audience knew no bounds when group dances representing different countries and states were performed with great perfection.  A dance drama – Aladdin and the Magic Lamp was highly enjoyed and applauded by all.  The mesmerizing events of the day came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by the Staff Social Secretary Mrs. V Sujatha followed by the School Anthem.

Eye Check up

An Eye check – up camp was organized by the MOE on January 29 to January 30, 2017 for the Classes KG. I  to Std. IV.   And few students from Classes V to X who were referred by their teachers were also given an eye test.  Those students who needed a further check- up were referred to the main hospital and their parents were intimated.

Republic Day

On 26th January, 2017 Indian School Ibra celebrated the 68th Republic day of India in the school premises.  Students of Class VII B conducted a special assembly.   Mr. Robin Rohith Vincent, President, SMC was the Chief Guest on that occasion.  Master Alen Roy (Class X), Head Boy, read out the message given by Indian President Shri. Pranab Mukherjee. Students of various classes presented different cultural programmes on the occasion. Miss Amitha Arunkumar (Class X), Head Girl, delivered a speech in Hindi on the importance of the day. The assembly ended with the patriotic song sung by the School Choir.

Christmas

The students with great joy and enthusiasm took part in the Christmas celebration held on 13th December 2015.  The day started off with an inspiring thought followed by the news update.  A speech on the importance of Christmas was given by Rachael of Class IV.  The students performed a skit with the holy message of Christmas followed by the carol.  The arrival of Santa Clause dancing on Jingle Bells made the school campus very jovial and happy.

Children’s Day

Itwas a long awaited day for the children.  A special assembly was conducted by the students of Classes V and IX.  The assembly started with a prayer song by the school choir.  Teachers conducted several games for the students of Classes IX and X.  A melodious song was sung by the teachers.   All these activities made the Children’s Day a day to cherish.

We organize Sports day annually, as we understand that co-curricular growth is equally important. We aim at holistic growth of all our students, so that we can nourish their childhood with varied activities.
